Marco Garcia, CEO of Canaima Software, traveled to the Incline Village to meet with Lahey Computer Systems representatives. During its visit, Mr. Garcia trained Lahey's Technical Support group on the use and applications of f90SQL. The visit was also used to bolster Canaima Software and Lahey relationship and to discuss future development and collaborations.

We have started development of a database connectivity wizard that will work in tandem with f90SQL-pro. The wizard will offer a graphical interface to ODBC databases, and will automate much of the code necessary to use f90SQL from your Fortran programs. The wizard is scheduled for release with the next version of f90SQL-pro, in November this year. If you are a registered f90SQL-pro user and want to participate in the beta-test of the wizard, please send us an e-mail to mgarcia@canaimasoft.com.

QT Software and Computer Transition Systems are two of the new international distributors of f90SQL-pro. QT Software is based in Germany and specializes in scientific and engineering software. Computer Transition systems are specialists in Fortran applications and libraries. They are based in Australia and also distribute to New Zealand.

Microsoft Data Access Components Service Pack 2 has been included in our Download Zone. This service pack contains several fixes that make the ODBC-Driver Manager Y2K-compliant. We have also removed the f90SQL manuals and examples from the Download Zone, as they have been included in the downloadable distribution of f90SQL-lite.

Salford Software Ltd., the UK-based developers of the Salford Fortran 95 compiler, has become a distributor of f90SQL-pro.

f90SQL-pro and f90SQL-lite are now available for Salford Fortran 95 (FTN95). With this release, f90SQL now supports all major Fortran compilers in the Windows environment.

f90SQL is now also distributed by Polyhedron Software. Polyhedron is a well known provider of consulting services, as well as Fortran compilers and tools in the United Kingdom. Canaima Software is now a Lahey Independent Software Vendor. Starting January 01, 1999 Canaima Software's f90SQL and f90ADO will also support Lahey's LF90 and LF95 Fortran compilers. With this new partnership, Canaima Software's line of database connectivity products for Fortran will support three of the four major Fortran compilers for the Windows environment. The download period for f90SQL-pro beta  is over. The beta period for f90SQL-pro will be over November 5. No major bugs reported so far. The final release version of f90SQL-pro and f90SQL-lite will be available November 10. Starting December 1, 1998, Scitech International will be a distributor f90SQL-pro.

On November 27, 1998, Scitech International and Canaima Software signed an agreement that allows Scitech to become a Value Aggregated Reseller (VAR) of f90SQL, the Database connectivity Library for Fortran. Scitech International is world's largest VAR of scientific and engineering software. f90SQL will be featured in their catalog starting January, 1999. The download zone now also includes the Microsoft's HTML-Help utility for those of you that requested it.

The on-line manual for f90SQL has been edited and streamlined. We have also created a version of the manual in Microsoft HTML-Help format that allows full-text searches. The HTML-Help version is available in the download zone.
