Press Release 05/11/2000. San Diego, CA. Canaima Software and Lahey Computer Systems Partnership. Canaima Software and Lahey Computer Systems have entered into a partnership to market and support f90SQL-Pro. f90SQL is a library of functions and subroutines that work as an interface between a Fortran program and the Microsoft Windows Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) API. f90SQL offers a convenient and familiar way to manipulate many database formats directly from Fortran. As noted by Marco Garcia, Canaima Software's CEO, "Fortran is still the preferred programming language for many scientist and engineers. Two of our flagship products, f90SQL and f90VB, give Fortran programmers the tools they need to take advantage of some of the newest technologist available today. With f90SQL they gain access to the world of databases. With f90VB their Fortran programs can easily interact with Visual Basic and Visual Basic for Applications. This opens a large range of possibilities, like creating GUIs for Fortran subroutines, or calling these subroutines from spreadsheets or WEB scripting languages". John Swenson from Lahey, commented regarding the new partnership: "We are investing time and effort in developing partnerships to provide our customers with the very best. Canaima Software's products will assist the Fortran community in developing programs with greater ease and keep Fortran abreast with the latest technologies". Nick Vogel, Vice-president of Canaima Software, indicated that "since the emphasis of our company is software development and consulting, it made sense to enter into an agreement with a partner to handle marketing, sales and first line support. We anticipate that this change will increase the service and convenience to our customer." |
